What is a Health and Wellness Coach?

A Health and Wellness Coach (HWC) is an ally that empowers you to achieve your greatest potential. They help to bridge the gap between healthcare and behavioral changes. The coach does not dictate how to reach your goals but works with you to help you create, manage, and achieve your goals. You may think of the HWC as an accountability partner. Someone who can help you identify challenges and overcome them.

Here’s a great article from the Washington Post that describes the work of a HWC https://www.washingtonpost.com/lifestyle/wellness/health-wellness-coach-new/2020/12/21/0f0b239e-40ab-11eb-8db8-395dedaaa036_story.html

How do I know if a HWC is right for me?

Have you been struggling to meet a goal and want to understand why? Are you looking for ways to reduce stress? A HWC may be the right option for you. Sign up for a free 15-minute consultation and have all your questions answered.

Is Health and Wellness similar to therapy?

No. As my professor Mark Stamper once said, “Coaching is not therapy, but it can be therapeutic.” I do not diagnose and/or treat any mental health conditions.

What should I prepare for my initial session?

Once you've decided that coaching is right for you, you will be asked to complete some assessments that helps me get a better understanding of how you view your current self and what you envision for your future self. We will explore these ideas in our first meeting. In addition, I will discuss the coaching structure, commitment, and our coaching agreement.
